2020-2021 Season Update (posted September 7, 2020):

Dear skating members,

Good news! The Glanbrook Skating Club will be offering a 2020-2021 season! We have been busy adapting new Covid-19 protocols and regulations to our programming to ensure a safe and fun skating season. It is important to note that all programs have LIMITED spots available. Program registration is for October to December only. We will have a second registration later this year. Registration is first-come, first-serve, so be sure to mark your calendars! Registration dates are posted below.

Please read the program-specific information below carefully. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions!

Important Notes on Programming:

Pre-Canskate: Unfortunately, we are unable to run pre-canskate sessions this year. We are under strict Covid regulations by the City of Hamilton and Skate Canada and the protocols state that skaters must be able to maneuver on their own, independent of a coach, as there is “no contact” with skaters. This limits registration to skaters who are Canskate Stage 2 (or higher).

CanSkateRegistration opens Saturday, September 19 at 8:00 a.m.

We are offering both Monday and Friday night sessions. Sessions will run for 9 weeks, beginning October 19 (Monday skaters) and October 23 (Friday skaters).

Please note, Friday night canskate sessions are divided into two groups:

6:10 – 6:55pm--> Stage 2-3

7:40 – 8:25pm--> Stage 3-4

If you skated with us last season, your skater would have received a report card.  Please check your report card to find out what level your skater is.  If you are unsure, send us an email and we will help you find the best session to register for your skater.

Pre-Star (formerly pre-junior):  Registration opens Saturday, September 12 @ 8:00 a.m.

Pre-Star sessions are offered on either Monday or Thursday and run for 11 weeks, beginning October 5 (for Monday skaters) and October 8 (for Thursday skaters).

If skaters are interested in receiving private lessons, they are urged to contact one of our professional coaches (listed below). Please remember that pre-Star is NOT a requirement to enter the Starskate program. If you have skater that is interested in one-on-one private instruction, please contact one of our coaches below to arrange lessons and/or receive more information.

StarSkate:  Registration opens Saturday, September 12 @ 8:00 a.m.

StarSkate programs begin Thursday, October 1st. We have icetime over four days this year (a new Thursday night session is available). Parents are encouraged to reach out to coaches to arrange for lessons. Sessions are divided by completed StarSkate freeskate levels. Please contact your coach with questions.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

We look forward to getting the season underway, but we will need your cooperation to ensure this season runs smoothly.  There are many protocols that we must follow and this will be communicated to you via email. Please check your emails regularly for updates.

Again, we should remind you that registration is first-come, first-serve. In the event that registration is full, it is strongly recommended that you waitlist your skater. We have a lot of movement between programs and spots tend to open up. In addition, if the City of Hamilton loosens regulations we will allow more skaters to register. Skaters who are waitlisted will be called/notified in the event a spot opens up.

Thank-you and we look forward to seeing you soon!

- Glanbrook Skating Club Executive and Coaches
